I am French and living in France but with family and friendly links with the US. After a professional life in a totally different field, I have been a "re-born student" (History of Art - UEB Rennes 2 ) in order to study in a more academic way the European hand fans (mostly 1670-1830). With my wife I have been collecting fans for the last 3 decades. The defence of my Ph. D. thesis takes place on 2015 October 3rd. ( http//www.theses.fr/s6950) As part of this research, I was looking (till summer 13) for collectors or curators whose collections include a significant number of fans from Europe (1680-1840). Even now I would be happy to give advices -if wished and when possible- for better cataloging the items that may be in museum collections.
